Ludo Game Instructions

Objective

The objective of Ludo is to be the first player to move all four of your tokens from your starting area to your home area by circling the board based on the roll of a single die.

Setup

1. Board: Ludo is played on a square board with a cross-shaped pattern. Each arm of the cross has three columns of squares—six squares per column.

2. Tokens: Each player has four tokens of a specific color (usually red, blue, green, or yellow).

3. Starting Area: Each player starts with their four tokens in their respective starting area.

4. Home Area: Each player has a home column leading to the center of the board, which is their final destination for their tokens.

How to Play

1. Decide Turn Order: Players can roll the die to determine who goes first. The player with the highest roll starts the game.

2. Rolling the Die: Players take turns rolling the die.

3. Starting a Token: To move a token from the starting area onto the board, a player must roll a 6. The token is then placed on the starting square of their color. If a player rolls a 6, they get an extra turn.

4. Moving Tokens: On each turn, a player rolls the die and moves one of their tokens forward by the number of squares shown on the die.

5. Capturing Tokens: If a player's token lands on a square occupied by an opponent's token, the opponent's token is sent back to their starting area.

6. Safe Squares: Some squares are marked as safe squares, usually the colored squares. Tokens on safe squares cannot be captured.

7. Entering Home Column: When a token completes a full circle of the board, it enters the home column of its color. Players need an exact roll to move their token into the home area.

Winning the Game

The first player to move all four of their tokens into the home area wins the game.
